Things to see and do while camping on the Basque Coast

The Basque Coast with its eyes turned towards the ocean!

If Biarritz is considered as the queen seaside resort of the Basque Coast, many other seaside villages are to be discovered during your camping stay on the Basque coast.

Far from the crowd of Biarritz, Anglet is a family and sporting resort in the setting of a beautiful pine forest, nicknamed "La Petite Californie".

Even more intimate, Guéthary proudly claims to be the smallest village on the Basque coast. This does not prevent him from cultivating a certain elegance, so much so that he is called "the little Saint-Tropez" of the Basque Coast!

On the cliffside, Bidart is a seaside village that combines beach, nature and lifestyle. An authentic fishing village where the change of scenery is always there!

Saint-Jean-de-Luz is not lacking in charm either. We will not fail to discover the magnificent bay of Ciboure, the fishing port and its colourful boats, the old Basque houses, the Louis XIV House, the delicious macaroons...

Finally, at the gateway to Spain, Hendaye is the southernmost resort in the Basque Country. It boasts the largest fine sandy beach on the Basque coast, an extraordinary castle-observatory and an 850-ring marina that attracts an ever-increasing number of boaters.

Activities and leisure on the Basque Coast

Camping by the sea in the Basque Country means enjoying the beach, swimming, water sports and iodine walks, just a stone's throw from your mobile home or tent!

Water sports are endless: sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, Hawaiian canoe, paddle, water skiing and wakeboarding, scuba diving, sea fishing and surfing! And it is no secret that the Basque Coast is home to the most famous surf spots in Europe: the Côte des Basques in Biarritz, La Madrague in Anglet, Parlementia in Bidart, Lafiténia in Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

If you are not very comfortable on a board, you will probably prefer to enjoy hiking on the Basque Coast. Walkers will take advantage of their camping holidays to discover the Sentier du Littoral, from Bidart to Hendaye via the famous Basque Corniche.

Of course, the Basque Coast lends itself to many other activities: golf, tennis, horse riding, quad biking, paintball, tree climbing, not to mention the Basque pelota which is played on the pediment in the heart of all the villages! A little tired, opt for a day of thalassotherapy in Anglet, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz or Hendaye. That's enough for a full camping holiday!
